gripe about the war

I find it extremely confusing when people protest about this war. Some high school kids think they know everything there is to know about the world and therefore want to excercise their freedom of protest rights around their school. I mean, do they even know who we’re getting? Can they even spell Saddam Hussein?

And what about this “hidden motives” crap I’m hearing? So? What if the U.S. And Britian want some oil. Is that so wrong? Hey, name one thing that you have done that you didn’t have a “hidden motive”. If you look hard enough, there is a hidden, selfish, motive for everything. Case-in-point: I play my guitar because it makes me feel good. I eat because I’m hungry. I donate money to an organization because I like to help out. Yes, there can be good motives and bad but you shouldn’t judge someone because of these motives. Yes, oil is fine and good. Is it worth going to war over? Hey, I figure, we’re going in there to kick some but…let’s get some oil in the process. It’s like robbing a bank. You’re going to steal the candy while you’re there. I mean, you drove all the way there and planned it out. You might as well add petty theft to your charges.

Am I wrong here? I don’t think I am. Quite frankly, I think its these “hidden motives” that keep this war and our economy going. Our gas prices are way too high. We need more oil. I don’t drive so this doesn’t effect me direclty but it effects the overall economy.

My point is, if you’re going to protest, know what you’re talking about. I bet you if I were to interview these high school kids, they wouldn’t know why this war is even being fought…the political reasons, the security reasons, the nationalistic reasons….I bet they couldn’t even say why exactly their reasons for not having war is wrong.

Its okay to think war in general is wrong. Its a valid opinion and I can respect that. But if you’re going to spout some obscure reason, SUPPORT IT WITH FACTS!

This is all I ask.
