We live in a sad, sad world….

Is this the sadist thing ever? So much of America is sue-happy, looking for an easy pay out…or even worse, just wanting to get even. What happened to the days of neighborhood shops where if you accidently fell, it was okay and you didn’t yell at the store manager for “not doing their job” and nailing the floor board properly to the ground?

Granted, some lawsuites are justified. But I think America’s boiling anger is misdirected. We don’t let kids be kids anymore. And when the child does something wrong, instead of punishing* the kid, we get angry at whomever “made” the kid do bad and sue the living daylights out of them.

I wonder sometimes why Americans are so angry? Drive on the interstate any given weekday and you’ll see a lot of pissed off people. Why don’t we let kids be kids anymore? Kids are meant to explore, develop mussles and exercise their bodies, not be penned up at home playing video games eating McDonald Double Quarter Pounder cheeseburgers with extra grease and living life vicariously through Ash and Pikachu.

Where are the days where you could find kids playing baseball outside in the park. If you broke a window, you had to work to replace it. You learned valuable life lessons.

Why are parents scared to take their kids outside? Kidnapping is a horrible crime, but it’s rare! And why don’t parents play with their children anymore?! I understand you work but come on! Can you take a couple of minutes off work and throw a football around?

I’m convinced if every parent invested an hour, no, thirty minutes…no…ten quality minutes with their kids AT LEAST 3 times a week, that we could get rid of teenage smoking, drinking, and maybe, make them productive members of society.
