“It Came At A Price”
Sarah gives John a smile and turns around. John gets out of the car and looks at her as she walks back to the car. Holding a simple, yet elegant flower, he walks up quietly to the tree.
John: I have to be honest with you. I loved you too. I know, I didn’t always say it, but I did.
He places the flower in front of others.
John: You were the best friend I ever had. You didn’t get mad at me when you found out about Sarah.
Tears start to swell as he holds back the pain.
John: That’s all I remember. Your last words.
He struggles to get the words out.
John: She made me feel again, you know. Her courage through the whole court ordeal made me realize I can’t run away anymore. I’ll always remember you. And you’ll always have a place in my heart.
John gets on his knees, staring at the marks on the tree.
John: It’s a little too late. I know.
He kisses the plague and walks away. The plaque reads, “HERE DIED MARIE FRAMIER. MAY GOD TAKE HER INTO HIS GRACEFUL ARMS AND HAVE PEACE ON HER SOUL.”
Written about 4 years ago It Came At A Price is a story about a young guy who murders his parents. I was reading through my old screenplays and I began to remember who John and Sarah were and who they represented.
It was kind of scary to read this because I realized how creative I was back then and where I am now. I hope to revise this again some day, and maybe even expand it. The ending is a little corny…but hey, I was young.
Now, on my way to writing an A paper!
