More books to read

I usually recommend books to whomever asks me. I bought a book for a friend of mine and now, upon reading it, realize that I don’t think this book would really help.

The book is titled Every Woman’s Battle and discusses how women typically lust after men. I’m finding this book very encouraging, learning that it’s not just men that deal with sexual purity, but also women. But in vastly different ways.

I just finished the second chapter where Shannon Ethridge compares men and women. Men are visually stimulated and will seek other forms of satisfaction if his wife doesn’t. While women are emotionally stimulated and will seek other forms of satisfaction if her husband doesn’t.

It seems like the audience for this book is for women who are slightly older, like late 20’s, early thirties. Or currently married…

But in any case, I finding a lot of helpful counsel about emotional attachments and things like that. Maybe I’ll just end up keeping the book.

I’ve realized now that I should probably read the books first before recommending them to a friend. A lesson learned; however, it requires me to read a lot more books than I would like. Oh well…There goes more of my free time.

I love to read! I haven’t read that book yet though. I will eventually get to it.

Other books that you should read (if not already):
What’s So Amazing About Grace by Philip Yancey
Don’t Waste Your Life by John Piper
Stop Dating the Church by Joshua Harris
And a series of books by Dave Edwards. They are really awesome and I have even heard him speak at McLean Bible church (He is hilarious!). THese books are rather “basic” in some areas… but others are like “whoa.” Here are the names:
Why Is It Taking Me So Long to Be Better?
    What Happens When I Die?
    How Safe Am I?
Has God Given Up on Me?
Why is This Happening to Me
Did I get out of Bed for this?

    :-D

I flipped through Stop Dating the Church and it is not what I was looking for. It actually is about not church-hopping…

oh well. I bought Boy Meets Girl for myself and I’m probably going to end up buying I Kissed Dating Goodbye for my friend.
