My best friend Crystal's college pastor (Pastor IJ) - is actually supported solely on giving - exactly like you. However, he does not ask for donations or go to people he knows. He prays - and God delivers. I remember one time Crystal was telling me how He was going to deliver a sermon at a revival - but He didn't have enough money to his name for gas. HE prayed and prayed... and finally a check came in the mail and provided just enough for the trip! Another person Crystal told me about - who I can't remember quite if Pastor IJ knows him or if she knows him directly - but a man who again lives on only donations from the church - supports a family of 5 children! So don't worry about how many people you know - remember what God has done! Since when do numbers matter with God! Did it matter with Gideon? And another thing..
