Jury duty: SERVED!

March 28th, 2006

I’ve got to say: I was pretty excited to get selected for jury duty. I think it’s a great way to be a part of justice. You have the responsibility of being a impartial observer in a crime and use common sense. That’s was justice is all about.

I went in today at 7:30 and I didn’t get selected. I was a little bummed about that, but at the same time I expected it. I knew that as soon as I told them what it is that I did and who it is I worked with, that they would excuse me…and they did. :-)

The case was against a husband who is alleged to have sexually assaulted his wife. I don’t remember his name…nor does it matter.

What’s important it that I got to be a part of the system.

It was my first time…but I have to say that I don’t think I felt more like a piece of meat than in the moment when the defence and the prosecution look you over and get to decide your fate. Kind of unnerving…but regardless, I enjoyed my experience and I’m making a cool $15 from the whole thing.

Here’s to justice!
